The Dawn of Cornhole

a satirical play by Terry Southern

This one-act monologue, written by Terry Southern in the early 1970s, is an outrageous 'school presentation', written as if to be performed before a high-school audience.

The satire escalates in outrageousness and, indeed, 'questionable taste'—particularly in consideration of the supposedly youthful audience—as the Narrator's focus becomes the minute descriptions of the sexual practices of the Early Settlers and their Indian Hosts—with 'unnatural acts' performed dramatically among the cornfields and indeed upon the beloved symbol of their Thanksgiving Day—the turkey.

CAST: Narrator (monologue),
Additional roles: Pilgrim,* Indian*, and Squaw*

*These non-speaking parts may be played by dancers, with erotic "highly stylized" choreography (see sample).

The play is made available through the Terry Southern Literary Trust, as a handsome 8-page bound, limited edition text, and can be purchased for  $11.95 (includes shipping)
